We recently hired House Doctors of Elgin (Alex Young) to help us with a couple of updates to our front porch and exterior, and I honestly can't say enough good things about the experience. Alex was incredible from start to finish!
We wanted to replace our outdated (colonial) porch railings and add a custom gable to the peak of our house. Alex came out for a consultation, listened to what we were envisioning, and even offered great ideas we hadn’t thought of. Shortly after, he sent over a clear quote with photos showing exactly what he planned to do, which was so helpful.
He found the perfect square-spindle railings I was looking for and had his colleague (Joe) custom-build a beautiful gable to our exact specs. Alex kept me in the loop at every step, he even came back out to double-check measurements before the install. On installation day, he and Joe worked seamlessly with our painting crew and the final result was flawless. I seriously could not be happier with how it all turned out!
Alex was professional, knowledgeable, kind, and incredibly easy to work with. We also received a detailed bio about him and his family before the project began, which made the experience feel even more personal and trustworthy.

We had a mishap at our home. An upstairs drain dislodged and water from our humidifier leaked into our walls. After getting the leak fixed and the affected parts of our kitchen wall/ceiling removed, and the area dried out, it was time for repairs.
House Doctors was chosen. They presented themselves well and their quote was very competitive.
Joe made the repairs and painting. The work was done within 4 days. The work was completed very efficiently and done very well. Joe is very conscientious about his work. His cut lines are perfect. I can't even tell there was any damage at all. He erected plastic walls to protect the other areas of our home. He put down tarps to protect our floors, cabinets, and counters.
I highly recommend House Doctors for all home repairs or remodeling. We are looking to have more work done in our home. Joe is our guy.
Special note: We have a double high ceiling in our front room and entryway. There are 2 high up inset windows in this room. It takes a 20' ladder to get to them. Alex, Joe's boss, came in at our request and cleaned the inset area, the windows, and the blinds. It took him about 2 hours to complete the work. He didn't charge us for this work. He said that he was paying forward, hoping to be chosen for our next job.
What else can I say, Alex and Joe are great people. I can't recommend them highly enough. Very good people to work with.
